I need advices, what's the best way to learn Azure, Aws etc ? I am studying Windows Server and Linux with some Powershell, once I'll have a good grasp of everything related to Active Directory and managing network and domain I want to learn the Cloud Azure, Aws etc

What's the most efficient way to do this I have no company backing me I am studying alone on my computer ? I've heard I can open a free Azure account but I must be careful not to go over the limit or I'll get billed or something. My goals was to build different business scenario, like virtual network and test and learn stuffs etc Is there a way to do this without spending a fortune ?

Do you guys feel that on premise is dead now and everything will be cloud even for small business ?

Guys,

I am attracted to IPad Air after recent try-out at the outlet.

I have this thought of replacing my Ipad mini...Add on to that the Ipad Air, there is keypad available that make it more like a laptop.

My question is is it a wise to use Ipad Air as laptop function.

Taking consideration that my work is more onto word processing (excel & word), and O365 is supported in Ipad Air.

What you all think of this move?

Thx

How essential is cloud computing to Data Analytics,

I am enrolled in a program for data analytics, and I am almost done with the cloud computing course. I am fairly sure I failed it, and am not sure if I'll feel up to making another attempt. I felt like a lot of it honestly was too high level, and just..not a well designed course as well, but I also probably did not do the absolute best I could have.

Gaming laptop recommendation,

Hi, recently looking for some laptop for programming and gaming purposes.
At first, I was planning to look for the laptop with GTX 1060, but afraid of it couldn't handle some AAA games in future.
Then, already asked for few stores and they said no more GTX1070 model, and it forced me to purchase the model with RTX 2060.

And currently there have three models which I quite fancy:

Level 51 Slate-15
Illegear Onyx
Asus ROG GL504GV044t

Actually I'm not really confidence to Asus product, but it is around my budget.

Any sifus can recommend me which model should I purchase? other models are acceptable as the price is < RM6.5k.

Sorry for my broken english.

Hi All,

Decided to start a thread on people who are using Intel HD graphics (myself included) and have a discussion about games which are compatible with it). I've taken the first cut from Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/lowendgaming/comme...tail_fall_2018/

I would be testing few other games and would be sharing my results in terms of fps smile.gif

Free Games
League of Legends
Pubg Lite
Path of Exile
Battle for Wesnoth
Hearthstone
Cave Story
DOTA 2

Paid Games
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Prison Architect

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Mar 20 2019, 12:03 AM)
What I've tested on an M3 (8W TDP) + HD615 + 8GB (GPD Win 2):

Apex Legends (720p + low + 60% renderscale: a bit blocky but smooth "enough")
Valkyria Chronicles 4 (544p + low + 80-90% renderscale: smooth)
BattleTech (544p + low: smooth, only lags when someone missilespams you)
Subnautica (720p + low-med: smooth)
Dead Cells (not too demanding so not surprising)
FO3: New Vegas (720p + med + lighting mods + no ENB: smooth)
EVERSPACE (720p + low-med: playable)
DOOM (544p + low + tweaks: playable)
XCOM EU/EW (720p + med-high: smooth)
Front Mission 5 (720p PCSX2 + tweaks: smooth with a infrequent shadow/AA artifacts)

Off the top of my head, have to recheck what else is on my Win 2 later as I'm using my "work" WL-U Envy 13 more ATM (yeah, more then even the Onyx lol).

I have an Asus Zenbook that i bought in 2013.

recently, i was eating while watching movie, then something greasy fell onto my laptop's keyboard. So, I decided to use a wipe cloth to wipe it.

Mana tahu, some of the laptop keyboard's keys ended up malfunction. But I believe is software issue i dunno ...

like key a cannot use.. suddenly enxt day can .. but key that can use suddenly next day cannot.

Besides that , when i restart the laptop or shutdown and turn on again, it will ended up in bios.. but can't do anything other than exit and discharge all the changes. If i choose return to default setting or save changed and exit, it will then load back to the main bios page instead.

So I ended up using hairdryer to blow it adn kept restarting it.. mana tahu it worsen the situation, now my laptop which is on SSD became like a bit slow.. even wanna copy out files also need a lot of time, is like some heavy processing thingy horging all the resources in the background, the mouse in the "windows" keep flicking very fast.. like shivering.

I haven't reformat my windows yet, do you think reformat can sovle it?

Or my SSD is dying?

Thank you

UPDATED PRICES, NEW MODELS (16/4/19)

Here are all the good/excellent Ultrabooks/regular laptops you can buy.

How I rate these laptops:
Build quality first. Battery life second. The rest are display (HD display will be excluded except in low end options), input devices, warranty and portability etc. QC and reliability are not considered, however business laptops usually have long reliability while cheaper laptops tend to have worse QC.

Imported Chinese models which are not included: Chuwi, Xiaomi

Additional info:
Most of the time, i5 and i7 don't have much performance difference in ULV (15W) CPUs due to thermal and firmware/power limitations. Also, there are 3 variants of MX150 GPU: 10W, 10+W and 25W. IMO brands only matter when comes to customer support, choose model not brand.

Thanks for reading! I hope this list helped you to choose the right laptop.

This list is outdated. Will update after 9th gen+16 series launch, RTX models not included yet

How I rate gaming laptops
Build quality and cooling first. Display and input devices second. The rest are portability and battery life. QC and reliability are considered in build quality rating.

Build quality: Lid pressure test+twist, keyboard area+palm rest flex, chassis flex, hinges, panel flex. Overall quality including input devices, speakers, display etc

Cooling: Temps, clock speeds, fan noise, surface temps (high temps aren't always equal to bad cooling, it depends on how much throttling, and vice versa)

A few notes before reading:
1. Prices based on Lazada, Shopee and official online stores (other websites might have cheaper prices), however prices will fluctuate
2. There might be error on specs, let me know if there's something incorrect
3. Models with 4GB RAM and HDD need RAM and SSD upgrades. Keep the extra cost in mind
4. This list will be updated from time to time
5. Some models are customizable
6. I may drop out some models if they aren't worth it. Also, I may repeat the same model with different specs
7. 1050 is 2GB, 1050TI is 4GB and 1060 is 6GB unless stated. SSD will not mention SATA or PCIe (NVMe)

If you need recommendations with special requirements or have any questions about a specific laptop model, kindly PM me.

How Many CPU Cores Do I Need For Gaming 2019?
By Samuel Stewart

user posted image

Indeed, a CPU’s performance may vary greatly based on its specs, technology, and what is required from it by a certain game. And over the past decade, one particular specification had taken precedence over every other: the core count.
So, how many cores does a gaming CPU need?

What Is a CPU Core?

Intel CPU Core

AMD Zen2 Core

In layman’s terms, the core count determines how many tasks a CPU can handle simultaneously. Back in the day, single-core CPUs weren’t actually capable of multi-tasking. Rather, they would quickly cycle and switch between priority tasks.
This changed with the release of Athlon and Pentium processors made by AMD and Intel respectively, which were the first multi-core processors to hit the mainstream market. It didn’t take long for core counts to inflate to 4, 8, and even 16 that we can see today with AMD’s latest Ryzen series.

Multi-Core CPU Gaming Performance
In truth, there tends to be a greater disparity between single-core and dual-core performance than between the performance of dual-cores and quad-cores. This was the case with almost every CPU up until relatively recently, mainly because most games were made to run using a single CPU core.
Today, the situation has changed drastically. More and more games can now take advantage of the high core/thread count available with modern CPUs, thus leading to noticeably better performance with processors that have 4 or more cores.
Ultimately, quad-core CPUs tend to be the sweet spot at the moment, with lower core counts leading to noticeably worse performance while those with higher core counts perform only slightly better.

Physical Cores vs Logical Cores
Another great innovation on Intel’s part was their introduction of hyperthreading technology which allowed a single physical CPU core to function as two “logical” cores, or threads, as they’re more commonly referred to. Soon after, AMD presented multithreading, which is their own take on the aforementioned technology and functions mostly on the same principle.
Without going into the technicalities, let us get straight to the important question: is a “logical core” as good as a physical one? The answer is most definitely yes.

Take a look at the benchmark below:
user posted image

As you can see, a hyperthreaded dual-core processor’s performance is only barely lagging behind that of a true quad-core one. As a matter of fact, 7th generation i3 CPUs (which are hyperthreaded dual-cores) were shown to actually perform slightly better than 6th generation i5 CPUs which had four physical cores.
However, seeing as all gaming CPUs today have been bumped up to a true quad-core status, including the 8th generation i3 models, hyperthreading has lost the spotlight to a degree. But still, you should keep the above in mind if you’re building a budget CPU and you’ve got your sights on a 7th gen i3.

It’s Not All About the Cores!
On-paper specifications don’t have to mean a thing.
A perfect example of this was AMD’s FX-series of CPUs which were released in 2011 and 2012 and relied solely on raw power and high core counts in order to compete with Intel. As years went by, FX CPUs stagnated technologically while Intel kept improving their Core series generation after generation.
The end result? You had hyper-threaded dual-core CPUs (such as the above mentioned 7th gen i3) which greatly outperformed AMD FX CPUs which had as many as 6 or 8 physical cores. The very same can be said for clock speeds.
The moral of the story? Always check the benchmarks!

Bottlenecking
You may or may not be familiar with the term “bottlenecking”, so what does it mean? In essence, it represents whether your CPU can keep up with the GPU. If not, then it will limit the GPUs maximum possible performance.

How to see if a CPU will bottleneck a GPU? Unfortunately, there is no reliable way to pinpoint exactly how compatible a specific CPU would be with a specific GPU, but a good rule of thumb to follow would be: i3/Ryzen 3 for mid-range PCs and i5/Ryzen 5 for the more powerful PCs. Any beefier CPUs are unnecessary unless you plan on running a multi-GPU machine.

Conclusion
Up until recently, we would have advised giving dual-core CPUs a fair chance, but seeing as even the cheapest gaming CPUs come with four physical cores now, there would be little point in skimping on them since the only real dual-cores you can get are simply not intended for gaming and are likely to heavily bottleneck any decent GPU.

So, the bottom line is, do not settle for anything less than four cores in a gaming PC. That way, you will get the best performance and the most future-proof solution. Only deviate from this rule if you’re building a budget gaming PC, but in that case, be sure that you don’t get a graphics card too powerful for it to handle.

Short Answer
All of the new gaming CPUs come with a minimum of four cores, while only the more dated and non-gaming CPUs still have two or fewer cores. Furthermore, when it comes to gaming, quad-core CPUs are ideal at the moment since they are the most affordable and their performance lags only by a split hair behind the CPUs with higher core counts.

I am studying Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering.Currently in 2nd Semester. So far my Uni taught us Autocad Solidworks. And this software runs pretty slow on my laptop i7U 3rd Gen Asus S56cm. I am planning to buy a new laptop for Uni usage. Which Processor and Graphic Card should i go for?

i5 or i7 9th gen HQ/U or i7 8th gen

GTX 1650 or 1660TI or 1050TI

I thought of choosing HQ Processor due to the higher boost which means i can work smoothly on some engineer software. Not sure in following Semester what the Uni will ask us to install such as Matlab or other engineer software.

Note: Not a hardcore gamer. Even if i install games, i will just install LOL or Fifa. That's all. Otherwise just use this laptop to support engineer software, stream, surf and Assignment.

Thank you to all the engineer senior out there for the kind assist
